The fee for the program is $25. No experience is necessary. All gear is provided.

For more information on Casting to the Future Youth Program, contact Peter Smith at 452-2884.

An optional Columbus Day weekend trip to Grand Lake Stream fishing for landlocked salmon is offered to the first 12 participants to sign up. The YMCA provides transportation and supervision of the youth, while MMBTU provides equipment, supplies, instructors, and food. Lodging is provided by MMBTU and Canalside Cabins at Grand Lake Stream.

CTTF instructors include experienced fly fishermen and educators who volunteer their time to participate in this youth education program. Students receive instruction in casting, tying knots, basic ecology, fly selection, insect life and identification, wading safety, and proper catch and release technique.

MMBTU is the mid-coast area chapter of Trout Unlimited, dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring North America’s coldwater fisheries. Funding for CTTF comes from local contributors and funds raised at MMBTU’s annual springtime banquet and auction.
